YOU CAN SIT WITH US

So, What Is A Denizen? Simply put, it's a regular. Homegrown and hometown, we celebrate you. The regular. The local. It’s you.

At Denizens Brewing Co., you always have a seat at our table.

It all started with a conversation in 2012 around the holiday dinner table.

Founders Emily, Jeff, and Julie were drinking delicious beer made by Jeff, who had brought it back east from his brewery in Colorado.

In less than a year, we founded Denizens Brewing Co., signed our first lease, and kicked down the doors of being the first production brewery in Montgomery County, Maryland. In the process, we pioneered an entirely new business model that changed and expanded the local landscape for craft beer. Now, you can find local craft beer in more places because of our advocacy in 2013.

From day one, we have been leaders in the craft industry and have served on national, state, and local trade boards and chambers.

In business for over a decade, we have grown from a handful of brands to more than 200 beers. And out in the world, we’ve gone from a couple of tap handles and a few cans on the shelf to more than 1,500 locations where you can find our beer across Maryland, Virginia, and DC.

In 2019, we expanded to a larger production facility in Riverdale Park, which we call home today. During that growth period, we added a full-scale product and raw material scientific testing lab to make sure our quality assurance and control program kept everything fresh for our customers.

Whether you drink Denizens beer in our taproom, Nats Park, your neighborhood bar, or grab a six-pack from the local store - we’re 100% invested in bringing you the best craft beer.

You can always count on us to host festivals, trivia, live music, and more. And when it comes to helping you throw a party - we’re experts. Our taproom walls have seen hundreds of celebrations, including baby showers, anniversaries, birthdays, and retirements, plus many other milestones.

We’re proud to continue bringing together a family of beer fanatics, regular customers, a dedicated team, and local partners and deepen our roots in the DMV community.

We can’t wait to see you in our taproom soon—and remember, you will always have a seat at our table.

Cheers!

Emily, Jeff, and Julie

WE BELIEVE

  • The best products are made locally

Drinking beer close to where it’s brewed gives us a better product and does right by the local economy and environment. Making beer is our passion, and sharing our product with you is at the heart of what we do. In addition to brewing our beer on premise, we carry Maryland products whenever possible, including locally produced wine, mead, cider, and liquor.

  • There’s no craft beer type

Craft beer belongs to all of us. Did you know that back in 2014 access to local, craft beer was not possible in some parts of Maryland? We made that change by working with government and community leaders to remove unnecessary, prohibition-era barriers, enabling an expansion in local beer production and distribution. Because we all deserve fresh, local craft beer.

  • A brewery is a gathering place

We've celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, held important community dialogue and events, and welcomed our guests’ four-legged friends. From partnering with the University of Maryland to grow yeast strains, to giving our used grains to Maryland farmers, to hosting fundraisers for local non-profits, we are a community-based brewery.

He has received numerous awards and recognition from state and national associations for his work.
